  • Fishing Trips and Charters

The Bay of Islands has always been fishing heaven. In the 1920s Zane Grey, the American game-fish writer visited the Bay and made his headquarters on Urupukapuka Island. His writings about the game-fishing eldorado of New Zealand made the bay world famous.

Nowadays you can take anything from a half day snapper fishing to king fishing and the ultimate adrenalin rush of big game fishing. There are a number of charter operators who can take you out. And when you're back on shore ask your captain to fillet your fish then take it to the fish and chip shop or Sally's and they'll cook it for you.

If you fancy something a bit more contemplative you can just fish off the Russell wharf or the rocks at Long Beach.
