The hosts of Arcadia are Greg Hoover and Peter Gillan, two gentlemen with a shared passion for food, travel and impeccable service. Together, they believe that the role of hosting goes far beyond providing a pillow and a door key, striving to ensure that all guests are cared for while having their privacy respected.
With strong customer service skills and a laid back, friendly demeanour, Greg is quick to build friendships with guests and enjoys hearing their stories. Prior to Arcadia, he worked for a Dallas media publication for 20 years before embarking on the journey of a lifetime in 2014. He explored the world on sail boats until he arrived in New Zealand, and here he decided to stay.
Peter, formerly a trained chef, had his own corporate catering, wedding and private function businesses in Auckland for nearly 20 years. He then had a change of course, embarking on a new career as a fully registered nurse working in emergency, primary care and mental health. With a desire for a change of pace and a pull towards the Bay of Islands, Greg and Peter brought Arcadia Lodge in April 2017. They have spent the past few years turning it into the charming bay-side oasis that it is today.
Greg and Peter live in a separate house on the property and are close enough to assist guests while giving them the freedom to relax. They take pride in their roles as hosts and provide service to rival some of the finest establishments in the world without the fuss.
